    Einen Morgen des Grauens erleben die Geschwister Cuyper. Angelina , Marielle und Cornelis , Erben eines traditionsreichen Diamantenhandels, finden vor ihren Türen jeweils eine Kiste mit Teilen einer Männerleiche. Kommissar van der Valk und sein Team ermitteln schnell die Identität des Opfers: Ahmet Baykam , ein ehemaliger Diamantenschleifer des Familienunternehmens. Durch seinen kometenhaften Aufstieg und schamlose Affären mit beiden Cuyper-Erbinnen hatte er sich jedoch nicht nur Freunde gemacht. Schon bald geraten sein übergangener Kollege Vito und der ausgebootete ehemalige Einkäufer der Firma, Jacob unter Verdacht. Seine Intuition und Kombinationsgabe ermöglichen es dem Ermittler aber schon bald, das zerrüttete Beziehungsgeflecht zu durchschauen und einem dreisten Plan auf die Spur zu kommen.
